for in-school youth help them stay in school by providing
tutoring, counseling, mentoring, career exploration, work
experiences, and overall support. The expectations of the workplace
permeate the programs which, in cooperation with the school districts, prepare youth to enter additional education or training
after graduation from high school and/or to enter full-time employment. Youth may be in a WIOA youth program
for several years.
for youth who have dropped out of school emphasize the youth's
return to school, or assist them with obtaining a GED as a basic step on their
road to self-sufficiency. Youth programs provide basic skills/GED
instruction, tutoring, counseling, mentoring, career exploration,
and work experience. The program staff keep in contact with youth
throughout the period they are enrolled.
Seperate funding may be awarded to RRTC to help youth find Summer jobs.
The coordinating entity for WIOA youth programs in Boone and Winnebago counties is the WIOA Elevate program, operated by Rock Valley College. For
